Press Release March 29th, 2021

The anniversary preparations for the Swiss Alps Classics are in full swing. Advance sales for the fifth edition of the festival, which has the motto “Variations on the theme of music”, will start today, Monday (March 29th, 2021). The tickets for the four concert evenings from June 2nd to 5th, 2021 are available online from CHF 75 at ticketcorner.ch and in the Ticketcorner advance booking offices. “I'm really looking forward to our first anniversary. We are in the process of establishing ourselves as a small but fine 'fixed point' in the calendar of international music lovers. And that in beautiful locations, ”emphasized festival founder Peter-Michael Reichel. With a view to the Covid-19 pandemic, he explained: “After our previous year's event in August 2020, we already have experience in holding our festival under Corona conditions. We are aware of the great responsibility: The health of everyone involved is our top priority."

For the fifth year now, the Reichel family invites you to the region around Andermatt and the St. Gotthard, which once also impressed Johann Wolfgang von Goethe and Franz Liszt. The artistic director Clemens Hellsberg has put together an anniversary program with four events of highly contrasting character: the multiple award-winning Austrian-Romanian pianist Maria Radutu plays and explains works from four centuries in her solo evening "PHOENIX" (June 3, 2021, The Chedi Andermatt) Liszt's “Mephisto Waltz No. 1” is the pianistic highlight. The American soprano Marisol Montalvo describes the ups and downs of the profession of a singer in the one-woman show “Mad Scene” and is accompanied by Werner Lemberg in arias of various styles (June 5, 2021, Andermatt Concert Hall).

Between the performances of the two women, a “classical” concert will take place on June 4th in a spiritual ambience: the exceptional Viennese violinist Emmanuel Tjeknavorian, born in 1995, who is now at the beginning of a great career as a conductor, leads the church of the Benedictine monastery in Disentis Works by Johann Sebastian Bach, Georg Friedrich Händel, Joseph Haydn and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.

The festival will be complemented by the continuation of the cooperation with the Lang Lang International Music Foundation (June 2, 2021): The Pühringer family, always striving to promote young people, once again offers two scholarship holders the opportunity to make a representative appearance in the Park Hotel Vitznau on Lake Lucerne.
