Born in Vienna in 1968, Werner Lemberg grew up in a musical family - both parents were members of the Vienna State Opera Choir. After studying at the Vienna Music University, he began his career as a répétiteur at the Vienna State Opera, first in the opera studio, then as a regular solo répétiteur. Further steps as a solo répétiteur and conductor were opera houses in Linz, Dortmund, Düsseldorf and Essen. From 2001-2010 he was director of studies at the Koblenz City Theater. After his return to Austria he took over the musical direction of the opera class at the Prayner Conservatory until 2020; since 2015 he has also been teaching at the Mozarteum in Salzburg.

Werner Lemberg is also successful as a composer. He is the winner of numerous composition competitions, with many performances of his works in Germany and abroad. Another focus of his work is chamber music and song accompaniment, including with soloists from the Rheinische Philharmonie.
